Multiple Croatian television and print reports are stating that former PRIDE standout Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and reigning Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem will indeed clash at DREAM.6, which will take place on September 23 at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
Overeem has won his last three fights. After defeating Paul Buentello and winning the vacant Strikeforce heavyweight title last November, Overeem recently went on to score a knockout of Tae Hyun Lee at DREAM.4 and then a submission of Mark Hunt at DREAM.5
. DREAM.6 will feature the final round of the promotion’s inaugural grand prix. Melvin Manhoef will take on Gegard Mousasi and Zelg Galesic will face Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza with the two winners meeting in the show’s main event. Additional fights expected to take place on September 23 include a featherweight meeting between Hideo Tokoro and Atushi Yamamoto as well as the first-ever DREAM welterweight title bout between Hayato “Mach” Sakurai and Nick Diaz. Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Ikuhisa Minowa, and Sergei Kharitonov are all also advertised as competing at the event.
