Seven fighters on Wednesday’s WEC 36 card have received medical suspensions by the Florida State Boxing Commission.Newly minted WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown has been suspended indefinitely by the commission after his upset win over Urijah Faber. He will need a doctor’s clearance before being re-licensed to fight. The commission initially suspected Brown had broken a rib during the fight, but Brown's camp later confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that he’d torn cartilage between in his ribs.
Urijah Faber, Jens Pulver, Nissen Osterneck, Jonathan Brookins, and Rafael Dias have been suspended for 30 days following their TKO losses.
David Avellan, who suffered a more serious knockout in his short-lived fight with Aaron Simpson, has been suspended for 60 days.
