Anderson "The Spider" Silva has been asked to carry the UFC event which would see him face off against James Irvin at UFC Fight Night 14 on Saturday, July 26 in Las Vegas., The event an obvious attempt by the promotion to counter the Affliction: Banned pay-per-view the same night.
Anderson Silva enters the fight with a seven fight winning streak which include wins against former middleweight champion Rich Franklin and two-time Olympian Dan Henderson. Silva has long been considered the Number one P4P fighter in the world of MMA which is quite something considering Fedor is included as number two.
The 29-year-old Irvin (14-4, 4-3 UFC) has not competed since his eight-second knockout win against Houston Alexander in April. If Irvin can beat Silva it would be one hell of an achievement.
